Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to embark on a journey aboard Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas, exploring the vibrant and diverse Western Caribbean. This trip was filled with breathtaking sights, exciting adventures, and unforgettable moments that I’m eager to share.
From the moment we stepped on board, the Star of the Seas impressed us with its modern design, spacious accommodations, and an array of amenities that catered to every interest. Whether you’re a foodie, an adventure seeker, or someone looking to unwind, this ship offers something for everyone.
Our Western Caribbean itinerary included stops at some of the most beautiful destinations in the region. Each port brought its own unique charm and activities:
Costa Maya, Mexico: We stayed on the ship this day and rented a Casita, enjoying a relaxing and peaceful experience. Immersing ourselves in the serene atmosphere provided a perfect break, allowing us to unwind and soak in the beautiful surroundings.

Roatan, Honduras: This beautiful island destination offered a perfect mix of excitement and relaxation. We hired a private driver through Victor Bodden Tours. What seemed to be a little sketchy in the beginning (had to walk out of the port’s gates into a large group of people) but then found our driver Franciso and he took us to a nice van. We started the day with a quick stop at the Roatan sign. This was just down from the port and he said we wouldn’t pass by again.

From the Roatan sign, we went to Mayan Jungle Canopy Park where we got to hang out with Sloth’s & Monkeys. This was ONE of the highlights of our trips. The Honduran government changes the laws this year so that the Sloths can no longer be held. We still got to pet them and they would reach out and grab a hold of you. We moved on to the monkey area and got to experience a few different monkeys. The Capuchin monkeys were jumping all over us. Our Max got to hang out with baby Max for a bit. I believe monkey Max was about a year old. He was very skittish at first, but then jumped on Max’s shoulder. They will do about anything for some sunflower seeds.

We finished up with the Macaws. Very large, sharp claws but they still wanted to be on your head. Lisa didn’t like this as much as we did since she didn’t have a hat on!

Cozumel, Mexico: Known for its crystal-clear waters and vibrant coral reefs, Cozumel was a paradise for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts. This was a great day. A coworker of mine referred us to Tiger Adventures Cozumel. I contacted Tiger and we booked his boat and crew for the day. He took us out snorkeling, fishing and then finished at a sand bar where they anchored the boat and we were able to hang out in the water. After a few minutes of being in the water, we had 5-6 stingrays swimming around us. They would bump into us and occasionally you would see them attack some fish. Allen (one of the crew) would bring out margaritas, beer, juice, fruit, sandwiches and some of the best guacamole we’ve ever had. Overall, we highly recommend Tiger Adventures Cozumel (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057320686002)

Back on the ship, the entertainment options were top-notch. From Broadway-style shows to lively music venues, there was never a dull moment. The dining experiences ranged from casual bites to gourmet meals, all prepared with exceptional attention to quality and flavor.
One of the standout features of the Star of the Seas was its commitment to guest comfort and safety. The crew was attentive and friendly, ensuring that every need was met promptly and with a smile.
Reflecting on this voyage, I can say it was more than just a cruise; it was a chance to connect with the sea, discover new cultures, and create lasting memories. If you’re considering a Western Caribbean adventure, I highly recommend Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas for an experience that combines luxury, excitement, and relaxation.
